There isn’t a lot of information available about Alicia Martin (sometimes spelled Alycia) and her incredible book installations. The use of books is a fascinating material which takes on a property of transformation - the books go from being channels of information, streams of knowledge, to becoming these overwhelming shapes and forms, where the information of each book is lost in the tidal wave of understanding. There’s a commentary about how we store and use information found in books, and the slow but steady decline of the use of the physical book in an age of increasingly fast information.
